It's 7:00 EST and the dealer should be dropping off my new TC21D this afternoon w/bush hog, FEL, and finishing mower. I've never owned anything bigger than a large garden tractor and I'm anxious to get started with all of the items on my "honey-do" list. I'm not one that reads the owner's manual until after I figure out that I probably should have in the first place (although I likely will tonight). I've intentionally let the grass go so that I can have some practice work this afternoon. Any "gotchas" or things that I should watch out from the experienced folks on this board? Thanks for any suggestions

If your grass is high, cut it with your deck high (about 4") and then cut it again at the more normal height of about 2 1/2". This will lessen the long dead grass build up on your lawn, and, more importantly, let you have fun with your new toy twice in the same day.

Congratulations. I'm sure you'll love it.

Congrats...it may take a bit to get the hang of everything (I'm still getting used to my TC35D), but it gets more fun as you gain more experience.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the warning. I actually did read your post and still managed to graze the front end of one of our cars (thankfully, not my wife's!) with the Bush Hog attached. I was really involved in moving some sand that I purposefuly left in the drive until the tractor arrived. I figure that backing the car into the drive will avoid discovery by my wife for a few weeks--

Yeah,Like me with the power steering cylinder and rod...I know there is only 10" of ground clearence...But no I had to be looking on the wrong side of the tractor...When I hit the stump...I still say it's the beavers fault.../w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

If you are new to driving with the FEL and a rear implement at the same time....don't forget to wear your glasses for both the front and back of your head. Be careful and ENJOY!
