Tractor
TC33D on order
Well, I am another one who has been viewing this board for over a month, helping me learn about compact tractors. Being new to tractors, this site has been a great help. Just acquired 64 acres in SW Wisconsin and realized I needed a tractor. After much research it came down to a JD 4300 or NH TC33D. The NH seemed like a much better value for my needs(almost $2,000 less, comparably equipped at local dealers), and I signed on the dotted line last week. New TC33D, MFWD supersteer, 7308 fel, block heater,R4's, Landpride RCR 1560, wheel weights and 50 hour service included. $18,400. Went with my closest dealer, although I may have gotten a better deal farther away. Hope I made the right decision! Met the owner, toured the service dept., and was assured if any warrenty problems came up they would pick up and fix no cost if needed. Hope that is not needed! By the way, any comments on the Landpride rotary cutter? Thanks to everybody for the help.

Sounds good to me. Never used any Landpride implements, but they have a good reputation, so I'm sure you'll be happy with it.

Hey Bsteel, You sound like you did a lot of research. I did the same, and bought my TC21D 2 weeks ago. I got a catalog for the Landpride accessories, and I'm very impressed with them. I did notice that the one attachment, that I would have been interested in was not in the book. Chipper/Shredder for the PTO. And one more small thing is the block heater. I see you live in Ws. , and I live in Pa. I was told by the dealer, that with the new glow plugs, and starting methods, that a block heater was overkill in my area. Do you think this is true, or am I kidding myself into believing that the tractor will start anytime? Congrats on the addition to your " family" Have fun with it. Kent

You will be happy with your choice. I acquired a TC33D a few months ago and I love it. The fel can do so many thing besides just 'front loading' things. Only problem I have had is that there has been enough rain to keep me from being able to use it very much.

Congratulations!!

Good to hear the positive response from you all. With regards to the block heater, my main concern is not only with starting ease in extreme cold, but reduced wear on the engine. Most wear in a modern motor occurs at startup and if the oil is warmed it will flow and lubricate just a bit faster, hence in theory reducing startup friction and wear. Most modern multi-grade oils flow pretty well at low temperatures so a block heater may be a bit of overkill. I am not sure of the type of bearings in these motors, but I do know plain bearings can really benefit from warm faster flowing oil. And with the non-winter we are having this year and global warming maybe I will never need it! However, I like a bit of hard winter and to be prepared, so hopefully sometime within the next 20 years I will use it!

I am always wondering how good of a deal I got on my TC33D. I never know if people are including taxes in their prices that they quote on this site. Did you get all that for 18,400 with tax included? If you did I guess I got screwed.

Bsteele:

Congratulations on your new blue machine.

I use a Land Pride 1560 Rotary Cutter behind my TC35 and have found it tackles anything up to about an inch in diameter without trouble, bigger things bang around. This is the medium duty model I think. After about 20 hours of cutting a couple of bolts had shaken loose. I have added chain guards front and back. I also added a slip clutch as it came without one...only a shear bolt.

Good luck with the tractor, you'll love it. Are you located someplace warm enough to be outside using it now? (or cold enough to be pushing snow?)

Unfortunately, I do not have the tractor yet. Just ordered it last week, and the dealer tells me it will be in around the end of February or early March. So I will report when it is delivered! In reply to Spencer's question about taxes, the price I paid was exclusive of taxes. In Wisconsin a new tractor over 30hp bought for 'farm' use, is not subject to tax.

Congrats on your new purchase - I bought my TC33D over a year ago and love it. I think you did very well on your purchase. I paid $18,735.00 for the same set up (no supersteer, wheel weights, block heater, or 50 hour service) with a woods 60" rotary cutter.

Welcome to the "club" enjoy your new toy or machine.
