Hi all, There's a nice blue tractor in the driveway this morning, and I have to go to work. "03 TC40D with 220 hours, Woods 9000BH, FEL, pallet forks, and backblade. On the short list to add are rear remotes and worklights, blockheater, and a brushhog. It was delivered last week and I've been crawling around, greasing and checking before I do any serious seat time. Already read the post on finding the worklight connectors, and the quote on I hope when I'm gone my wife dosn't sell my tractor stuff for what I said I paid for it. What a great site this is. I found one future problem, it looks like from the moisture coming thru the hood vent grille, and over the battery that the hydraulic lines underneath are pretty corroded, and will need replacement. Anyone else seeing this, and how would you prevent it ? Thanks, Bob

Welcome to TBN. Now's the time to try exploring the "Search" feature as this was a commonly discussed problem a couple years ago. It comes from the battery itself, not moisture coming in the hood. Several have gone to Optima batteries to fix, others just clean it up, re-paint, and spray it down every time they open the hood.

Welcome Bob, and congratulations on the TC40!

I have a TC35 that had the same problem. It was caused by a spewing battery, and I had to take extrordinary measures to keep the corrosion off things. Gratefully, the nasty battery failed after a year or so. I got a cash adjustment that covered the cost of a $40 sealed maintenance free battery (SLA) at O'Reilly. It's been clean and shiny for around 2 years now, and I expect it to last another year or 2. I guess an Optima battery would last 12-18 months longer than a standard SLA battery, but costs around 3x more. Therefore I didn't judge it to be economical for my situation.

Good luck with the tractor! I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy mine. Remember, lack of diesel won't hurt a tractor, lack of grease will. :)

Thanks to Have Blue and Kossetx , I think that's the answer, new hydraulic lines and a sealed battery. Just wonder why you don't see the same level of corrosion in cars and trucks in 3 or 4 years. I've already bookmarked Pineridges webpage too, excellent. I'd like to build a plowframe myself. alot of great help here. Thanks guy's Bob
