New tiller

I finally bought a tiller yesterday, I went to a nearby TSC and bought a 5ft. Tarter made tiller. I had been looking at this model quite some time, gear driven,6 tines per flange, plus it can be made reversible. I threw my back out putting the tailgate/ramp back on the trailer so I left it on the trailer. We have had so much rain plus a few inches of ice and snow the past three weeks and more rain tomorrow through the weekend that I think it will be June before the ground is dry enough to use the tiller. I was able to break some ground and plant potatoes Valentines weekend and then the weather just went to$#*@ PS the potatoes are under water !

I'll be really interested in hearing how the tiller works once you get a chance to use it. I've seen that model at my local TSC.

I know what you mean about the rain. We've been in a drought for 5 years here and now it has started raining and won't quit. I hate to gripe about it because the lakes really need the water, and the ground is completely saturated so all the rain we get now runs off into the lakes. I bought a BX2660 almost 3 weeks ago and really haven't been able to use it much because it's so wet.

I have this tiller and if my experience is normal you'll love it.... Remember the machine comes without oil in the gearboxes and it's not greased. You'll need to test the clutch on it before tilling to burn the coating off the clutch plates...

I have a garden that is 40X100 and I tilled it the first year without breaking ground first... It took about five passes but in the end it looked like coffee grounds... Light and fluffy handmade beautiful rows with the row builder.
