Hey, ya'll!

Just moved onto 6 acres and we just purchased a pre-loved 2210D. Has a little over 550 hrs. Gentlemen we bought from said it had an overheating issue after a couple hours of work. That turned out to be true. He said the fan can be switched to help but after running it I dont think a new fan will do anything. I did notice that the outside of the radiator needed to be blown off. A flush is going to be in store as well. Other wise it looks like it was well taken care of.

Also notice that the blow off hose? was blowing some smoke and after cruising the forum here I am going to change the oil. How concerned should I be about this? It is a pretty steady smoke. I am pretty mechanically inclined so some work isnt scary to me.

Edit- Have also seen others talking a temperature gauge. This one does not have one. Info about putting on one would be awesome!

The tractor wont be worked hard besides the initial clearing of tall weeds. After that it will be just regular mowing and moving of fire wood.

Thanks ya'll!

I just purchased a 2wd 2210 a few weeks back and just finished installing a temp, oil and volt gauge, it's not hard to do, this thread has all the info needed about gauges
http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums//showthread.php?t=12770.

Is the smoke coming out of the tube extending below the tractor? I would run seafoam through the fuel system, that could clear up the smoking, may not but worth a try and wont hurt anything.

I'm not convinced these things need more gauges than Yanmar put on them.

I would remove and clean the radiator thoroughly first, then get the radiator rodded if that didn't fix it. You don't need a temperature gauge when everything is working properly.

I agree they don't "need" more gauges, but its nice to have them :), plus it lets you know more precisely when everything isn't working properly and you can see the temp going up before it gets to the point the light comes on, which to me is almost to late..maybe not..guess im just peculiar..lol

I have to agree...seeing my oil pressure and temp is key. In fact my temp gauges doesn't read over 150 degrees and I verified that with a infra red thermometer. If I waited to see the red light turn on that would be an additional temperature rise of 80 degrees or so

That smok eout of the tube you see is blowby from the rings in the engine. Some is not bad, if you still have power dont worry about it.

Look at the thread titled something like 1500 breathing or something. Wiston posted a link to a u tube video of one that is really bad.

The only way to fix it is to re-ring it or some degree of overhaul based on your findings once its opened up.

I installed a temp gauge on my 2210D. The idiot light didn't go on, the radiator was plugged w/vegetation from mowing tall stuff. One new head gasket later, I very much like having the temp gauge......I can see the temp climb ten degrees when brush mowing uphill in the summer, and then watch it fall again on the way down

One thing I never trusted about idiot lights is.. one bulb out or corroded wire makes you the idiot and your tractor a goner.

Gauges are obvious when they don't work.

I have a how to for gauges in my sig
