What are peoples thoughts on this model? Was it a good one or a problem child?

I bought an LX172 back in the fall of '92 and sold it to a guy in '98 who is still using it and hasn't had a problem with it yet. It was also a 5spd. but I don't remember having any problems in regards to shifting.
