Yes, read the manuals.
And I recommend getting in the habit of checking the regular maintenance type items before you use the tractor every time. I'm talking fluids (engine oil, coolant, transmission and front axle), air pressure in tires, radiator and screen for debris, and a visual walk-around of the tractor, FEL and implement to look for leaks, breaks, bends, loose bolts or connections. You can avoid a lot of future headaches by making this as habitual as zipping up your fly after you put your pants on.
Most of all, don't hesitate to ask questions here. You may think they're stupid questions, but they're not. Trust me, nobody on this forum was born with the knowledge of how to operate these machines or any of the tricks and techniques that some of us have learned over the years. And most of us learn something new all the time. I've learned a TON from the folks on this forum.
