1982 Kubota L245DT
Hello all,

I'm new here, from PA. I've read many of forums from the site and finally decided to join to share some of my ideas and concepts. Also to learn more and hopefully help others out.

I have a little over 5 acres in the woods on a large hill (some would call a mountain depending on where you're from) where I play during the daytime. 800 foot driveway I'm working on correcting and laying new gravel. Heat with only firewood. I have 1982 Kubota L245DT with FEL that has done nothing but work hard since I've owned it and keeps going. I have a few attachments for it, box blade, rake, middle buster, and brush hog.

We're an "orange" family as we love our Kubotas and Stihls.

Thank you
Semper Fi

G'day Mate and welcome to TBN from Downunder.

Enjoy the site... and there's nothing wrong with owning Stihl. :)

To the TBN forum, "Jar Head." We are glad that you joined with us here.

Thanks for your service and how long were you in? The wife still says that you guys have the best looking uniform and you can always spot one a mile off.

Thank you very much Thomas, Wagtail, and mddorange.

Mddorange, I served from 2007-2012 with all of 09 in Iraq. But I started my enlistment later in life at 25 so I'm not all that young... But still younger. Lol.

I would have to say your wife is right. We call them 'panty droppers' lol. I currently work with a decent amount of veterans and you can see the same mentality but different work aspects from the different branches. Thank you for your service Mike.

Wagtail, my stihls have always treated me well. I do 8-10 chords a year with felling, limbing, and cut to length and they never miss a beat. I hold no grudges against any other brands, I just have an old school mentality of, if it works, use it, and so don't like change. Lol

Yes, yes, yes... and the swabbies always said that the 13 buttons on their pants were to give the girls 13 chances to say NO.

I know what you mean about being older as I was 21 when I ran down to enlist at the end of the month to beat my draft notice coming out at the beginning of the next month. Back then, if you got drafted you went straight to Nam and nobody in their right mind wanted that. While I ended up there anyway, it was a whole lot better flying around in a C130 than running through the jungle.

What kind of work do you do now?

I can understand that mindset!

I'm currently working in Internet Security as a Shift Supervisor for NTT Security. But I have my few acres at home, on a mountain, in the woods, away from society. LOL And that's where I continue to use my hands and get dirty. I was blue collar before USMC and don't ever want to give it up. But $$ is all I need from my job, not satisfaction. It's called work for a reason. My home is my heaven where I do what I want.
