I am going to be using a sa cillinder on a mower. I have a bh which i may eventually put a thumb on and hopefully a 2nd rear remote. From my reading it sounds like a power beyond on the 2nd rear would be a winner. my bh use b port and a dedicated bh return port. If my recept was done properly the 2nd rear remote will be added in the near future at the first fluid change.

first question can the sa cillinder be run from the port as is nothing beyond a qa fitting? ie stick it in presure when i want to rais it and neutral when ready to lower?

2nd if i need somthing more will the power beyond by its self do the trick or will i need a external valve?

if external valve for either what suggestions are there for info and pricing?

the thumb if i have a 2nd circuit it can run independant of the main bh setup so as to not have the center closed? issue. so consideration has to go to that as well with the power beyond/external valve.

OK, I'll have a go...

Well it depends, is there a control valve feeding those rear ports? If so, what type? If it has a detent spool feeding those ports and they are designed for 2 way flow, IE: you could connect up a double acting cylinder to A and B and control it with the valve, then yes a SA cylinder could be made to work. If there is just an on/off control for the ports, then no a SA cylinder would not work directly off the port as it will have no return to the reservoir.

Power beyond is an extension of the high pressure line feeding the valve that has the PB port. If used, it must have an unrestricted open center flow to the reservoir so you will need a valve in line after the PB port to make use of the fluid.

Well the manufacturer of your tractor may make something quick and dirty(and expensive:)) to meet your needs. But once you consider all the custom mounting, fittings and work involved, a factory bolt-on is probably not too far out of line. Not knowing exactly what you have, I have no idea what to reccomend. Places like surpluscenter.com have quite a selection.

Well you could put an open center valve in line with your current BH feed. The PB port on this valve would feed the BH. Working this control for the thumb would interrupt the backhoe function while the thumb is working, but it would allow controlled positioning of the thumb. You would also need a return line from this additional valve "T"d into the Backhoe return.

it is an a-n-b. it was supposed to have 2 of those ;) I was thinking of leaving the main functions of the bh on the first remote and all extra features on the 2nd remote. I was hoping the 2nd remote could be entirely independant of the first so even if things were going on with port 1 it would not really affect port 2

I see manny cillinders in my future.. :p if you see a tractor walking on spider leggs its probably mine :D
