Tractor
Case IH D40
First I will post pictures ASAP. This tractor came with a Woods loader, spring tooth chisel plow, 6 ft. bb, lienbach phd, and King Kutter 6 ft. finishig mower for $14000.00. The tractor has 680 hrs on it. The paint has some fading, mostly the cowling. It is a pink color now. Has anyone been able to wax or polish theres back to red with just a polish. My last resort is to take it off and paint it. I am going to try Super Glaze polish when I have time. If someone has used something better please let me know. Something else I noticed is when you raise the 3 point lever all the way to the top, the hyd. pump will surge, you have to bring the lever down about 1 or 2 inches before it stops surging. Is there a way to adjust this. I didn't receive a manual with it. One other thing is on cold startup the tractor engine surges until it warms up or you rev up the engine with the throttle to about 1100-1200 RPM's. Is this pretty much the norm for a 680 hr tractor. It is a 2002 model. Other than that I really like the tractor. I had a JD 4210 prior to this tractor. Big difference in size. Please respond.

Don't have any answers for ya, but congrats. I recently bought a DX35.

Big_Lug, when you start your tractor cold, just touch up the throttle a tiny bit to raise the rpm and you will be fine. The slight surging is pretty common with these tractors, but smooths out quickly, or you can do it manually as you have discovered. I just bump my throttle up slightly before starting and adjust for 1000 to 1100 rpm and call it good. On my 1700 hour TC45D, that's the way it has always been.

Thanks Jihnman, boy I wish you had a fix for the 3 point lever. It just Whines if you raise the 3 point too high.

As you now know, I posted the answer for that in the New Holland forum. I'm not absolutely certain the adjustment is the fix, but I'd bet my next Social Security check on it.

Jinman, I adjusted the 3 point linkage like in the picture and it worked well. Thanks again. I also waxed my tractor with some polish called Liquid Glass, boy what a difference. I will post pictures as soon as I am finished with it.
