New To me Cub Cadet 5234D

Hi All, I picked up a used basket case (Literately) 5234D. I looked up about the trans issue before I looked at it. The guy had lost interest in fixing it. The bevel gear on the shaft which he had out was completely stripped. Has anyone taken this trans out/appart that has any pointers. Also I'd be looking if someone had some pictures on where everything plugs in/goes. The guy gave me a box of parts and I'm going to try to see where they all go. Good part is the engine purrs like a kitten (The starter relay is shot but starts by jumping it). I'm going to try to pull the trans completely out and see what else I have to work with.

I got it for $1250 with the 812 loader and a 54" deck.

Seems like you got it for less that what just the loader and mower are worth.I think they were a really good tractor for the money.Heavy duty front drive axle,real 3 point hitch and pto?From what I have heard,MTD made everything but the Kawasaki gas or Daihatsu diesel motors?

I just bought the same tractor from a local auction. Mine was at least in running and driveable condition. But a local shop said that I need to rebuild the PTO to make it work. I was able to find the service manuals and a parts manual online for free.

Does anyone happen to know the sizes for all the 3pt hitch parts? Ordering them brand name is overpriced and I've found some generics but have no idea which sizes to buy. The previous owner removed everything but the actual lift arms...
