Good morning everyone,
Well on Friday afternoon I broke down and bought a used Ford 2110 tractor with a 5 brush Hog. For a 34-year-old tractor it痴 in pretty decent shape.
I took it home Friday night and started cataloging some issues that I knew it had and found a few more. Some of the issues I found were, the tach/hour meter, fuel, coolant gauges and glow plugs are not working. The three-point lift bleads down after shutting off the engine and the starter kicks out when starting. It smokes a little when starting but quits after its running.
Also there was a drain pepcot on the side of the block the was weeping coolant. On further inspection to fell off in my hand. It was completely corroded off and the hole had crud build up in it. I took an ex-out and got the threaded part out and put a brass pug in its place for now. I checked all the fluids and need to defiantly the oil needed to be changed so I changed it to Delo 400 30wt oil and a Napa gold filter. The hydraulic fluid was fresh and looked great so I didn稚 bother with it. The coolant was ok so I値l save that for another day after I find out what temp thermostat it requires.
Ive got a few questions for the collective.
First is the electrical issues, with the gauges and glow plugs. I lost on this, I have Zero experience with electrical. So and advice will be helpful.
Second, what thermostat should I put in it, I致e seen anywhere from 172-188.
Third, is the three-point lift beading down, there is a valve body right below the seat. It has a wheel knob that adjust and obviously for the hydraulics, I was wondering what it痴 for and what it does.
Fourth, is the starter, it kicks out, I think it痴 the solenoid but not sure.
Other than the above issue it runs Great, I mowed about three hours Saturday afternoon and it purrs right along.
Attached are a few pics for reference.
