I just brought a John Deere 5410 at an Auction, it seemed pretty tight, very little wear on the clutch pedal or floor board. I just glanced at the hours, thought it said 1750, after I bought it and was loading I noticed the hours were 17502.8, The engine tag says 2001 model; how could a tractor get that many hours and not be worn-out? There is a little slack on the PTO shaft and seal needs replacing, but it's not bad. Very, very little smoke (normal). There is also a "sentinel" something mounted on the side, it has 4 lines running up to the water jacket. it's about 2 inches round and 6 inches tall; any ideas on what this does? My best guess is that it was on a catfish pond, but still 17000 hours? Like said the tractor seems pretty tight, no problems so far, (only ran about 1 hour, light bushhogin. Any ideas, also what problems might be on the horizon? I'm thinking about putting a Koyker loader on it; is this loader OK?
thanks for the help!
