Great forum.

I recently bought a 5030, 170 hours, with front end loader, back hoe, bush hog, post hole digger, pulverizer, and landscape rake (all Woods or Kubota) from a friend that needed money to start a business.

I will be using the equipment on 22 wooded acres that will eventually be my new home.

Can someone clear up the mystery of the three vertical attachment points above the PTO on the 3 point hitch. How does one decide which position is to be used? I am going to hook up the bush hog this week (BB720) and wasn't sure which one to use.

Thanks!

Welcome to TBN.
I've always used the top attachment point. On my tractor the lower points would tilt the implement more when raised. I would think that generally you want to match the implement. But then again, my experience is quite limited when compared to others here at TBM so I'm sure someone can offer more insight.

Welcome, I'm sure someone will be along that can help.
Most implements give recommendations , if you don稚 have manuals, as new as your equipment you should be able to find on-line.

One of the three holes should be for attaching ground engaging implements such as a plow. Attaching to this point would allow the "float" to work. Ask the owner or your dealer which hole is used for plowing.

Welcome Oscar

I will second Tig.
You can change the geometry of the 3ph a little. If you can match the distance between the lower and upper attachment points so it is the same distance as the 3ph attachment (ie: your landscape rake) it will remain close to level if the top link length was set properly. That said. I never did mess with mine. things I put on the 3ph go out of level all the time. I set it so they are about level when they touch the ground. It will probably matter more for you because your tractor is in a whole different class from mine. The 3ph range of movement is greater and will exaggerate the lack of allignement. More experienced people will know when that can be an inconvenience or problem.

Thanks for the input guys. It doesn't seem like too much of a big deal...I was just wanting to make sure I didn't damage anything. Doesn't sound like I will.
