Tractor
Kubota L45
Picked this little guy up this past Thursday. It's been somewhat neglected maybe even abused but it runs well and is pretty solid. The biggest issue is the leak around the output shaft that drives the front axle. I hope and pray it as simple as prying the seal out and pressing another one in. That is how it appears and I have a service manual on the way to confirm, along with the seal.

In doing a good once over on the tractor there were countless hardware (cotter pins, nuts, bolts, washers, etc) missing. The most notable was the frame to transmission bolts, 1 was missing and the other 3 were lose. That could have been a disaster left unchecked. Spent about $40 so far on just small hardware.

The little bit that I have used the tractor it seems to do pretty well. It will be great around the house and the 60" MMM gives a pretty good cut especially considering it needs blades.

Things to do
Trans output shaft seal and fluid / filter change
New blades
Install cruise control

Once all the little things are done I do believe the tractor will be solid and give many years of service, it only has 450 hours on it.

Nice tractor. Contrats. I'd suggest changing the oil in the gearbox on the mower deck and make sure all the blades are on the fan in front of the hyd transmission. Have fun with it!!

Thanks! The only fluid left to change is the trans.

All of the cooling blades are on the fan though a couple are cracked. Going to replace it though I have been unable to find the part number, don't even see it pictured on Messicks.

Sorry the link didn't work. Here is a picture. It's under your model tractor and under Engine. I'm trying to attach the file. If it doesn't work I'll try something elese.

I've read with Kubota's you have to break the motor loose to get this fan replaced. To replace the fan on these tz's you just have 4 bolts off the flywheel and the other 4 are near the fan. Those bolts need some loctite from what I read. I used it. I have no idea what took the fins off my fan but one day I was looking the tractor over and put my hand up where the fan was. Wasn't a blade left on it. It was bald as an onion. I replaced it for around 12 bucks. I have the guard on it but a stick must have worked it's way up there.

Another issue I had the was the tach cable breaking on my t1010. Same tractor just a year newer. One day the tach just stopped working when i was cutting the grass. It was pretty easy to replace. Just scared me thinking it could be something more serious.

Thanks, guess I never looked in the engine section for the hydro cooling fan. Have one on the way.

Congrats, looks good.

Thanks.

Yeah, i didn't thing the fan would be hard to replace looking at it. There seems to be plenty of room as well. My plan is to build a guard out of expanded metal to protect the fan and filters. I doubt it will be able to stay in place with the deck attached but there needs to be a good guard.

The only other thing is that seal. It came in today but I am in West Virginia on business. I am ready to get it together and play....I mean work (in case the wife reads this)
