x475
Recently upgraded from a gt275 to a x475.the previous owner said that it was serviced last year and came out of storage to sell. Claims there is 700hrs on it but after getting home I noticed The hour meter doesn't work. The only attachment that has ever been attach is the 54c. What should I look over and check now that I have it home. Also what all do I need to add a 3point on the rear. I also see some people add a cat0 and some do cat1. Also debating on snowblower/blade. I had blower on my old one but not sure money will be available for a blower for awhile.

:welcome: to TBN

Enjoy the x475

Can start with changing fluid in the tranny, then complete with new filters and engine oil. Blow out and inspect the cooling system..
Take the guesswork out of the equation.

You may get lucky and just have a ground or corroded connector to dash preventing the hour meter from working. Does the fuel gauge and temp gauge work?

I would do the 750 hour service so you know service is up to date.

It appears there is some moisture behind the dash. I also washed it today and the whole gauge cluster fogged over. Hoping that is the case

:welcome:

I added a Ruegg 3 point to my X485. They don't come with instructions but there are posts online about installing the Ruegg. That along with the factory 3pt hitch instructions it's not bad if you have the tools. Wrenches, circlip pliers. Limited Cat1 is same price as Cat0. Might as well get the Cat1. Figure out what implements you will use before spending the cash.

700 hours seems to be the universal "Xseries dash electrical issues so we will pull a number out of where the sun don't shine that folks might believe". Change all fluids and filters, grease it up, replace whatever is broken and enjoy. Don't forget to service the deck gearbox fluid and grease fittings. The X485 I picked up would reset the hour meter to 0 and both coolant temp and fuel meter would peg to the right when the PTO was engaged. Seller came down on price because of that. The older electrical connections are not sealed. I have cleaned a couple of connectors in the wire harness under the dash. Hour meter now stays working but the gauges still mess up. I have more electric harness cleaning in the future. The connectors are not the easiest to separate. I'm torn between adding dielectric grease once cleaned or leaving them dry. Dielectric grease will attract more dirt but will keep the connections from corroding where they make contact so I probably will. Some web searches have suggested adding a better or dedicated ground wire will help the dash. There are some posts about broken solder joints on the internal dash electrical board. I haven't looked too deep in the wire schematic or board yet to sort it all out. It's on the to do list.

Thanks for the replies guys. I've been looking at front blades and everything local is over $1000 with the quick hitch.

How well do the front blades move dirt. That's the only reason I was looking for the 3point to add a rear blade.

"How well" is a pretty tough one to answer. If the dirt is loose, then the blade is better than a shovel. If the dirt is un-disturbed and not loose, then not well at all (go get the shovel). But then, the front blade not much different than a rear blade.. just a difference in traction and where the weight is for traction.

Do you have pics of the deck gearbox and where to put the fluid?

In the drawing it's key 15. It's an allen socket plug. Mine was stripped (former owner??), I had to drill and use an easy out.
Easiest to remove the gear box from the deck. Remove the plug, dump the oil and refill to the bottom of the threads.
