Tractor
Cub Cadet 2165
I have stumbled across a Massey Ferguson 1215, 4x4, hydro, 288 hrs, 54" belly mower. I think I can get it for $4k (he's just asking $4300). Pics all look nice, guy seems to be totally legit, and we have spoken quite a few times over the phone. I will have to drive a few hrs and bring it back, or pay to get it shipped about 500 miles. Here are my questions:
1. Any ideas on how much shipping will be for about 500 miles?
2. Seems to me to be too good to be true, as most compact tractors with similar info seem to be $6k and up. Any thoughts? What questions should I be asking him?
3. Anyone out there with detailed info on this tractor?
4. Is there a way to put a bagger right on the tractor....I have tons of leaves. Or I could just keep my Cub 1265 for the leaves.
5. Is there a market for me to sell it if it's not what I want/need?
6. Any other input is welcome.

Thank you.

The price is a little low, but if a guy is in a hard place financially, he's got to let things go. Since I assume you have to go there anyhow to:

1. Lay your own eyes on it and drive it.
2. Buy it, that is, pay cash for it.
3. Ask him for his bill of sale or paperwork when he bought it. (small chance it is stolen and he's trying to move it out quickly. Although, if you saw it on a Craigslist or similar, that would be very bold.

Now, if everything it works out, and you do buy it, you'd have to drive home anyhow. So, may as well go with a truck and double axle trailer. Be prepared.

Resell it? Sure. But this isn't the prime time for lawn oriented machines. That is spring. If it had a Loader or snow blade/blower? Prime time!!!

Thank you. I will be out in the western part of VA next weekend anyway (in Blacksburg for the VT football game), and I do have a trailer that I believe will do me just fine for hauling the tractor. If I can find the time, it's only about 2 hrs past where I will be. But it is my daughter's 21st that weekend, so time will be tight.

Anyone else have any comments?
