Buying Advice New to "The Game"

To Whom It May Concern:

I own 2 properties in Sullivan County, NY 6 miles apart totaling 10 acres.
My wife and I live at one which has an acre cleared, a 30x30 garden & 12x20 greenhouse.
The other is a fixer upper that will be renovated & rented within 6 months.
That property will require serious landscaping to create the "curb appeal" I want to attract my target market.
I want a compact tractor but am not sure my circumstances warrant the purchase.
I could rent for the "fixer upper" and mow my half acre of lawn...but I DON'T WANT TO...I WANT A COMPACT TRACTOR.

Please HELP me!

First off, welcome to TBN!

The reality is that once you have something like a compact tractor, you will find reasons to use it that you would never have thought of beforehand. For example, maybe you would like to have an emergency generator to power the house during outages, but haven't gotten around to it....get a PTO powered generator, and you're set! See how easy it is to justify a tractor? That 30x30 garden? Get a PTO tiller and you'll get it done in a fraction of the time....the list can go on and on.

You and your bride should consider visit dealerships in the area try models they offer...its a good start.

To TBN Kid. As Gman said, you will find more and more ways to use that tractor than you had ever thought of before. In fact, it won't be long before you will start wondering how did you ever make it without one. With most manufactures offering 5 year 0% financing, it makes it easy to afford one. Be sure to and actually get behind the wheel and drive them to get a feel of how it works.

You didn't mention plowing snow, but that's a perfect use for a compact tractor. And where you live, it snows. Or at least it did when I lived in Ulster County. Buy a clean used tractor, use it and care for it, and you should be able to recover (at least most of) your investment when you feel you no longer need it.

Well you have admitted your addiction so are past the denial and bargaining stages and can move on to acceptance and treatment. The only effective treatment requires you to make a purchase and get a lot of seat time.:laughing:
I'd get on Craigs list click on all(dealers and owners) and lawn and garden then type in one brand you would prefer In my case John Deere, you'll get everything in that brand both tractors and attachments both large and small.
