Greetings all. I am new here and thought I would take moment to say hi. I have been lurking for a few weeks now and have already learned quite a bit.

I am planning on purchasing either a SCUT or CUT in the next 1-2 years (to either replace or augment my JD 277 LT) and would like to learn as much as possibe before the purchase so as to ensure having the proper tractor for many years.

For now I will primarily be reading but I do have one question so far. Do the JD MMM decks suspend from the tractor (not actually riding on the grass like the Kubota MMM decks)?

Thanks in advance.

Yes... The 2305 hangs the deck from the two lifters in back and a bar in front. There are 4 anti-scalp wheels at the corners. The decks are (more or less) interchangeable on the different tractor models.

My search told me the biggest difference in the different colored tractors are the ergonomics and paint color. Figure that out, along with a dealer you're comfortable with, and buy away!

This sounds exactly like my LX 277. Is this the same mounting used on the larger CUT's also (in particular the 2x20 and 3x20 series)?

Welcome to TBN :D! Keep your posts coming and the membership will help you spend your hard earned money . When it comes to researching and buying a tractor beware of the "HP junkies". Many of the "major tractor" websites have tractor selector programs that will recommend a tractor based on the input you provide. The programs appear to be "weighted" towards FEL use and acreage. I would recommend that you look at brand supplied tractor "specifications" and competitor comparisons with caution. A lot of the specification sheets provided are a product of Sales & Marketing Departments and compare different criteria to put their products in the best perspective. I would ramble on, but you appear to be approaching tractor research and acquisition in a logical and calculated manner :). Good luck- Jay

The mmm decks on the Kubota BX series, and B7510 "Turf Special" are also suspended from the tractor, and don't ride on the ground. The BX series mowers are adjusted with a knob in front of the driver's seat for depth of cut, the same as the JD, and can be locked up giving you 6" of clearance. They also can be left on with both the loader, and backhoe mounted. I tried the new BX seat yesterday, and found the comfort much improved. I think the ergonomics of both the JD, and Kubota are close now.
