I purchased my first tractor 8 months ago: JD3032E.
Found this forum while troubleshooting a third-function valve problem.
Decided to join so I can ask questions and share my experiences working with my tractor.

Congrats on the tractor purchase.

Welcome to TBN.

What chores do you regularly do with your tractor?? What attachments do you have?

Congrats on the tractor purchase.

Welcome to TBN.

What chores do you regularly do with your tractor?? What attachments do you have?

The short answer: whatever my wife tells me to do!

I dig up rocks, push over dead trees, pick up piles of brush and cut trees and haul it to the burn pile.

I just yesterday acquired a grapple which should make the brush piles much easier to deal with. I also have a ballast box (only because JD says I should have one).

This is my first tractor and I have had it for about 8 months. Should have bought one 20 years ago!

I have a dozen or more attachments. The Grapple is most used. You'll never regret that purchase!!!!

Weight on the rear of the tractor will show it's true value when you start using the Grapple.

I have not filled the ballast with anything yet. I see where some people use sand, others use rocks or bricks. I am thinking on using sand because it will be easier to remove if needed.

I wanted the grapple since the day I bought the tractor but I was not happy with what the dealer was willing to sell--just too heavy for my D160 loader. So I researched the **** out of it and ultimately found a 195lb grapple that met my needs (I think). But then it was the barrier of hydraulics. I had the third function valve installed from day one but the fittings, length of hose, etc. were a bit intimidating. I through caution to the wind, ordered the grapple, knowing that there was a solution to any issue and I would solve it when it arrived.

Picked it up yesterday and soon discovered that the valve was stuck. This morning, I tore into the valve and fixed it (having benefit of a nice youtube video about disassembling a bidirectional valve). So I am up and running.
