Im am getting in to tractors and are considering purchasing an Yanmar FX16D. I am unfarmiliar with these and would like some sugestions and info on them. I have a freind who like Yanmars and owns a YM1601D, but has had a very difficult time in locating parts to fix his. This concerns me a great deal but he still loves his. I am in the north west Georgia area and the unit im considering is less than $6000 for a new Koyker model 80 loader, installed, and the unit itself(FX16D). It has 1051 Hrs. which i do not belive to be excessive from what ive read here on the forums. I have been unable to find much info on this tractor. Any info and help would be greatly apreciated. Thanks.

There are several YM dealers in north Alabama. Frederics, Barnette, Maynard, and several others. Check with these about the model you are interested in. I have had to waite several weeks to recieve some parts for my Ym2020d but the parts are there. I just cannot frive to my local parts house and get them. If you have not operated a tractor before you need to talk to some old hands about what not to do. A tractor can be dangerous it you are not knowlegeable.

The price and hrs seem about right. The tractor was built in the late 80's. I've enjoyed my in the 3-4 months I've owned it. It has done all I've asked of it as well. Engine starts easily even in cool weather.

From what I've been told parts shouldn't be too hard to find from a dealer of these tractors. I'm sure most have parts tractors and most parts can be found but not as easily as for your car. Filters are common items and can be had at many parts houses. Both the power shift and 4wd are nice features. There are several dealers on this forum that can usually help you out if the local dealer is unable to.

Koyker makes a decent loader and the tractor should be able to handle a 4' rotary mower but your cutting conditions will dictate the size to some extent. Used Yanmar tillers should be easy to find if one is desired.

You should talk with someone you know and can help advise if this size tractor is suitable for what you intend to use it for and local ground conditions.

Why not just buy from a dealer who DOES supply parts? What kind of maintenance would you think has been performed if the seller doesn't have good information on the tractor (and I make this assumption since you state you have been unable to find info on this tractor)?

The dealer that has this tractor is a Branson dealer who just took it in on trade. My freind with the YM 1601D is the one who sugested I speak with this dealer about it. When i first spoke to the dealer about it he priced it at $8000 and then recently he call me and told me i could get it for less than $6000. Sorta makes me wonder about it. As far as size goes its compact enought to get in tight places and large enough for a loaded and possibly and auger.
