Hello from a newbie.
My other half ownes and operates his own equipment working 14 - 16 hour shifts.
To keep myself busy during the day while he tries to get a little sleep, I had him cut a 20' x 25' garden out back next to his shop so that I can plant vegetables.
My rows will run north and south with the shop being north, corral fence on the east and south, and a few grapes on the west. As I have never had a vegetable garden I'm praying that this is going to work.
This morning we hauled one of our tilt trailers to a local dairy for some fresh manure. Such a nice man. He also gave me all the fresh cut oat hay (broken bales) that I can pick up for my bunny rabbits as well as a calf for the day care next door, she wants a petting zoo. My 2 year old stepson is next door during the week so we've also dug two HUGE gardens there as well. One for vegetables and one for watermelons/pumpkins, not to mention the sand box that the kids love. Anyway manure was spread and the ground turned I will go out this evening after he leaves for work and start my rows. That's how I ended up here. I was searching for any information on vegetable gardening when I came upon this site.
So there it is, my little introduction. I welcome any helpful hints and look foreward to chatting with new friends.
Hope everyone's enjoying this beautiful Sunday.
