Picked up an ancient Kubota KX71 mini excavator on Friday and spent Saturday morning digging up and pulling down some almost dead persimmon trees. Local tractor dealer took it in on trade and found the motor was toast from a bad ether start (broke most of the rings). They did an overhaul plus a lot of little fixes plus welding and paint (it spent many years down on the coast and some of the sheet metal was toast). Pins are good, tracks still have some life (tensioners need an overhaul) so overall it is in decent shape. I do need to make some shielding for a few places - cracked a brass fitting on a return line on the bottom.

I was really surprised at how much work you can do with just 27HP. This thing digs like mad, rips trees apart, so it should be pretty useful once fully sorted out.
