Anyone have or seen the new toyota FJ ? It's a concept that made it to production version of the old landcruiser thats an 07? model due out early in 06. My brother said he saw one at a gas station. Are they out already?? Its not the overbloated soccer mom landcruiser the current one is.

I'm still waiting for a Tacoma size truck with a small diesel using todays diesel advanced technology. I think I may be waiting for some time.

What I can never understand is why you make a 4 wheel drive vehicle, then "load" it with options.

I use my Toyota T100 for work. It looks like crap because I haul everything in it, get the insides dirty, and after a period of time, just don't care about the appearance (sp?) because I actually use it (keep in mind, I'm not talking about abuse, but use).

Why don't they make a 4 wheel drive without leather, power anything, A/C or "fancy things" (not sure what fancey things are, but cute things!).

Rant mode over /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Oh, trying to find a standard nowadays is almost impossible.

Jeep...not a PU truck but the only 4wd that I know of you can get stripped of all unnecessary junk.

Nope,
not even close. Even the cheapest wrangler has an airbag in it. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif Also, padded dash, interior lights, etc. useless high mounted stop light. All this junk on an off-road utility vehicle.
This goes to show how they've ruined an institution like the venerable Jeep. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

But, I still want one. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Just give me somthing with 4 wheel drive (decent suspension and tires of course) and some ROOM to put some things.

Why not an older style type forerunner where you can remove the top (or bronco for that matter).

Seems like everything is going to the "new rounded" styles.

Used to love the old Ford 150 body, then they went and got that dang "new style" (ok, only my opinon, and we know what they are like! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif). But on that note...I do like the newer 2004/05 150 body style (not as much as the older ones though.

Serious, why not just a 4wd SUV typ absoulutely "stripped" of all "comforts"? You would think that there would have to be a market for those type of vehicles. I would have to think that the cost savings could be substantial to where the sales would justify it.

Exactly! Who needs aerodynamics (and airbags and padded dash and, ____ and, ____ when the vehicle is meant to live off-road and mostly at slow speed.
I can't believe all the owners think this is a better Jeep.
Shoot, they've almost turned it into a chick car. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
If all that junk they've added is for the gov't requirements, then they should try to get a "waiver" to build a plain jane.
Otherwise, I guess it's up to the owner to make a "swap meet" pile as you rebuild it.

The pictures look like it's just another yupie car, no real offroader. The front may look close to the old fj40 but thats where it stops. I bought a new one in 1977, right off the lot I raised it 4'' put 900 x16 supertracks on white spokes, tru-trac locker front an rear. Put a 8000 lbs warn winch on front and 5gal jerry can, shovel and hi-jack on back. A new sideband CB and 100 watt kicker. Mounted a tool box in the floor--25' snatch strap, pully block, axe, few tools and a first aid kit. We also re-fabed the air intake into the cab. We were almost bullet proof... This was a great utilitarian vehical ....
