New Tractor Day

Well, last week I traded my trusty 1720 in on a new Workmaster 50. New unit was delivered today. I had owned the 1720 for 10 years. No issues at all. Just wanted a higher capacity front end loader and more HP. I've attached a few pictures. Cut a little grass today. Will give a more in depth review later. Cheers.

I mowed for a couple hours the other day. Some quick observations. Transmission and reverser shifts very smoothly. Seems broken in. The high low shifter which is not synchronized is also very good. FEL functions are excellent and visibility is very good. Tractor has some whine in reverse as mentioned by other reviewers. I imagine New Holland utilized straight cut gears in lieu of helical cut gears. Instrument cluster and controls are easy to read and functional. The turbo and inter-cooler gives the tractor plenty of power. The fan turning on and off is very loud but working as it should. Don't know how fuel efficient the tractor will be but imagine it will use double the 1720 in similar usage and close to the 4610. Really like the digital read out on the PTO RPM. Very easy to set your speed correctly. So far no issues. Stability on hills excellent. Just for clarification this is a Fiat tier 4B final engine. It utilizes a catalytic converter without urea or regen.

One question for moderators. I tried to add a review to the review section and was unsuccessful in adding the model to the section. I was informed that the model was added but it was not.

Very sharp looking tractor. It is a very nice upgrade and having MFWD with a loader is great to have.

Thank you fieldman12. Still have a lot to learn about the tractor. Started out on my papaw's lap at a really young age on a Super A. Dad was an Allis Chalmers salesman and we farmed raising cattle and growing wheat, soybeans, and corn. Been on and around tractor's all my life but nothing like this.

Yes Steve. I dropped in to get some knives for the haybine. I had talked to Jeff previously about trading the 1720 but we never could get together on price and trade in value. I guess we both gave in a little and made it happen. They were more than fair with me.

Very nice looking machine, the tires make it look mean imo. Who builds the canopy? It's nice too.

Don't think much of how the old one is chained down, but I guess it isn't your problem any more.

Thanks DT 86. The top is from Masters Farm Supply out of Florida. It has a small amount of foam insulation under the top and works really well. My 1720 only had 850 hours. New South put the FEL on it several years ago and Jeff knew how good the tractor was. I bought it with 245 one owner hours in 2006.
