Hey ya'll
Been on here on and off for about the last two months. Co worker of mine who bought about 16 acres started talking to me about him looking for a tractor for his property and BANG...Got me thinking about my 4.5 myself. I had a great little toro LX425 with a 42 inch deck for the last 11 years but with all this land the time seemed to be that maybe I needed something bigger.
Friend got a Kubota L2501. No way did I need something that big and with nice amount of plane old grass to cut, having that mid PTO for a mid mount mower for me was a must have. That's going to be the primary purpose for owning the machine. Plus I have lot of hardwood mixed with pines that drop leaves and needles all over the place. I bought a cyclone rake about 5 years ago for my old property. Kind of makes the mid mount a must have cause that machine is a beast and I want to continue to use it. Picks up everything!
So that left me looking at BX's and B series. Spend a lot of time watching GP Outdoors and seeing what his machine does. Now I didn't just look at Kubota's. I did give consideration to a lot of machines. JD, MF, Mahindra, Kioti....you name it. I really looked into Rural King, but they don't have any dealers in GA. Shame because I liked there RK24 and the straight forward price with the pieces I wanted. Unfortunately, there isn't a timeline on when they are going to be anywhere near me and the idea of not having service near by just doesn't work for me. I have never owned a tractor so I need a place reasonably close that can be of service if I need it. So everytime I looked, I just found myself coming back to the Kubota. Closest dealers for me are JD and Kubota. Based on what I read and details I just felt the Kubota package was the better way to go. Really liked the BX23S. That backhoe sure is cool looking on the back. My favorite toy as a child. But as I got to learning about the units, attachments, and talking with my father in law, everything said go bigger. Sure that backhoe was cool, but I was worried that the BX series was just too small. I could spend about the same about on a bigger tractor and get more tools to put on it with more lifting capability and more versatility.
So I settled out on a B2301 with FEL, 3rd option valve with 60" land pride grapple. I got a 54 inch MMM and a 1248 box blade. I can't believe how amazing this machine is. This property since we got it has a lot of overgrowth. This machine is going to be a God Send. Got a lot of plans for this machine. So far just cut the grass and cleared some of my ATV trails we cut last fall with the ATV's we own.
I hope to do more work this weekend. Looking forward to hearing from you all and being part of the forum. Thanks.
