Hi
Looking for info from Chinese tractor retailers. (Tommy , Chip)
Considering buying a Foton 30hp Tractor.
The engine type is a (hope spelling right) Shandong Huayan Ladong Type 3(either I or 1 or T)30 3 cylinder diesel..(non glow plug engine).
Tractor looks good but hour clock shows 62 hours..check all the dealers stock and similar story on them all.
After really close inspection would stake my life that they have never been "used"......Is it normal for these new tractors to have so many hours on them when the dealer gets them????
Engine plate has Lic Number XK06-002-00134.........Is this a "perkins" clone???
The design of the tractor seems to have one bad drawback........You cannot use the standard drawbar hitch and the PTO at the same time.......The hitch completely covers the PTO.....How the heck do you pull and power spray units, balers etc.
any info would be helpfull

I never brough in any 30 hp Fotons, most of the 40 Hp used a Lijia Engine, the larger 60-80 used the China Perkins. Our tractors have zero or possibly 1 hour on the meter, I would guess these may may been sent out and returned or used as dealer demo's just a guess.

If you are wanting a Foton and need that size I would look at the FT404 40 hp, with Shuttle shift, very nice tractor and don't have the same drawbar issues as the 30 hp model.

We did have a hard time getting Foton parts, I have now found a new supplier and he has been getting me most parts. Foton contracts out just about everything other than assembly, if one of those component factory's go out of business they will change parts and you can no longer get the other part, I don't like that much.

Jinma has a much better parts supply in the uSA with alot of dealers, the cost for the Jinmas will be about the same or a little less than the Foton

Thanks for that Tommy.
checked out the 40HP end really is a little large to fit down the rows in my vineyard not to mention the extra cash to buy it.
Jinma cost more in Australia than the Fotons I can get and nearest warranty dealer is 500 miles away. Foton offer onsite warranty.
Was very interested in the hours you get on the clock. I really have checked these tractors out.tyres still got moulding "nipples" on them.......all the breather tubes etc clean as a whistle...No wear marks on paintwork were feet have been...no dust or dirt underneath.....all the plastic covers still on seat / steering wheel etc.......FEL bucket etc unmarked...Engine production date 04/09......would have thought 60 hours use would have taken longer to put on the clock.......dealer says they all come like that.
Is the engine the same type that is in the Jinma??? thought they had glow plugs??
Once again thanks for your input.

regards
Bob

Once again thanks for the info

Some of the tractors have hour meters that run when ever the key is on. Maybe they left the key on and it took 60 hours to kill the battery then the dealer figured it out?

My Jinma is not this way. It only puts hours on when the tach is turning, ie engine running.

Give the man a cigar...got it in one..clock starts as soon as key turned...can now start negotiating a price for tractor with 60 "hard" hours on it ;)
Honestly though....heard many stories about "poor quality" of chinese tractors.
Yes the castings look rough compared to my japanese tractor...but all the bolts or nuts have spring washers....all steering arms use castle nuts and have split pins......the bonnet is a substantial piece of metal.....certainly very 60's or 70's in design.......but as I am used to 50's tractors they are delux :D.
Now just have to work out how to modify the tractor hitch so I can use it and PTO at same time..........another reason for a discount!!!!
Thanks for the feed back you have been a great help

I have not seen a 30HP Foton, most of the dealers I know that handled the25HP foton (farm pro brought some in) is that they left some to be desired (noisy rear ends is the main complaint as I recall). If the FT 30 is based on the FT404 platform, it will be a little heavy but a solid tractor. if it is based on teh 25HP platform, I personally would stay away. I try to avoid saying this on these forums, but the 30HP Dongfeng (0ur used to be AgTrac, currently A Trac and soon to be "Artrac" brand) is quite possibly the best 30HP unit from china. I say this because of the 8x8 fully synchro shuttle trans, direct injection engine and well.. I do sell them. It would not be much of a streach to say that this tractor can almost meet Korean tractor quality, at least mechanically. cosmetics are still leave some to be desired. (fading fiberglass mostly). The 35HP KAMA we used to bring in was a bit heavier, more like the 40HP foton but I will say the component parts of the DF tractors are very high quality from a machining finish point of view especially compared to the KAMA. We have sold quite a few DF tractors under the AgTrac name and we have had NO front end problems, NO clutch problems, In fact, very few problems at all. We have a 40HP with sychro shuttle arriving in or December container.
