I've put about ten hours onto my new MX5100 so far. A couple hours in there was a hydraulic transmission fluid leak out of the transmission case. They came out several times before it was fixed.

Now, a few hours later, there is a slow an oil leak under the block.

If this was a new car, I'd have it replaced immediately... get me another car, this one has factory problems that I don't want to deal with.

But I've never bought a tractor before and I believe these kind of problems are not normal. I don't want to use the tractor and repeatedly have these problems, or worse, have something really let loose after the warranty because the dealership didn't fix it properly, or did a temp patch-up job.

Any recommendations on what I should do? I love the tractor but I'm losing patience. This machine should be ready for years of work, not be in the shop after the first day!

I think I would have a talk with the dealer and see what his thoughts, opinions are on what is causing the oil loss. You may encounter the same I did one time when a green dealer informed me, "My God It's A Tractor, What Did You Expect". Not good news when one has paid several thousand dollars for something new and have a problem.

I know how bad it feels to have a brand new tractor with problems, but that is what the warranty is for. I had to have a new engine put in my Kubota after only 5 hours. Work with you dealer to get the problem resolved. My dealer was great and brought out of loaner tractor that I used for three weeks.

This isn't normal for a Kubota. Don't let the dealer tell you it is. Maybe with some other makes, maybe in the past, maybe with 6000 hours on the clock; but not with a new Kubota now.

Only leakage problem with mine was that the B7610 was leaking oil from the midsection a few hours after delivery. Turned out that the block that tapped into the tractor's hydraulic system at the transmission wasn't made right and wouldn't allow it's O-ring seal to seat. Once that was replaced, everything stayed dry.

There's a problem somewhere and you're within your rights to demand that it be fixed. A good, honest dealer will recognize it as such. That said, it would be good if you could leave it at their shop until they get to the bottom of it. A few sets of eyes looking at it, comparison with other tractors, and maybe an opinion from an older, wiser tech could make a world of difference. That's what it took to fix the B7610.

Wow I'm terribly sorry to hear of you troubles. I know exactly what I would do in your shoes. Start down the chain to see what options you have in this general order: Dealer, other dealer for second opinion, area manager or rep, nearest regional office, lawyer. I can tell you for a fact that this isn't normal. I have an MX5100 also with about 12 hours on it. So far I have had no leaks or issues whatsoever. Hopefully someone else here will be able to tell you more about your legal rights. Also, if I can do anything personally, feel free to shoot me a PM. Please keep us updated.

All you have to mention is the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act and the Song Beverly Act in California and Kubota will come to the party real quick. Do a google on the net for kubota Law suits and you will see how the Japanese settled them quickly. If your Dealer will go to your Kubota District Service Manager it will get "handled" quickly. Sad but most Dealer are worried about warranty dollars paid because they only keep the lights on these days. Forget about A/C in a shop. I think you get the picture.

My buddy's new MX5100 had a PTO issue after about a week. It finally wouldn't engage or wouldn't get any HP to it. I think it had to do with an oil seal or something. Don't know if it leaked or not, he was too embarrased to tell me. (I had tried to get him to buy another brand for the same money.) I'm just glad he didn't buy what I recommended and then it break down on him. He would have been all over my rear about "Why'd you make me buy this hunk of junk???"

I meant if he had bought what I had recommended, and then my recommendation would have broken, he'd have never let me hear the end of it....

My L4400 had a hydraulic leak where the rear remote hooked on. Bad o-ring I think. Dealer fixed it promptly. Since then (3 years ago) the only thing that has leaked was the radiator.....because I ran a stick through it. Otherwise the thing is dry all around.

Give your dealer a chance, he should make things right.
