Kubota/ B2650 Cab Loader/ Backhoe
So i bought a B2650 cab with fel, backhoe, landpride grapple, forks, box scraper, rotary cutter, loaded ags with wheel spacers, and block heater. Their delivering it tomorrow.
Which happens to be my b-day coincidencely! Yay!
Ok my question(I'm sure I'll have more)...Is it customary to tip the delivery guy and if so how much?
I already spent to much but was wondering what's the norm.
Thanks

First, congratulations and Happy Birthday.

I have never heard anyone say that they have tipped dealership employees who deliver tractors, attachments, etc.

To be honest I never thought to do it when we got a new machine. Nice idea however!

That's heck of nice birthday present congrats.
If you feel right about offering go ahead or maybe some cold or spirit to drink, you'll know better when the time arrives.

If I had too much money in my wallet I'd give him some. With that being said, no, I wouldn't tip the delivery driver. If his boss doesn't pay him enough after I bought +/- $30k of equipment then that's his problem not mine.

Congrats on your new machine, and happy birthday. Like the others, I have never thought of or heard of tipping the delivery driver. But it is a nice thought.

If the delivery driver (singular, by himself) drives to your place with all of that equipment on a trailer and unloads it all for you, then I would consider throwing him $10. I generally will tip any delivery folks that have to perform manual labor (like furniture delivery, moving company). That tractor and it's implements are not exactly an Amazon box.

Everyone gets offered a non-alcoholic beverage (never take on the liability of providing alcohol to a commercial driver). Do what you feel is right though.

Not unless he was also bringing a pizza, or at least birthday cake or food of some sort...

Seriously, tipping to me is for someone who either makes below minimum wage in a service industry, or for someone who goes above and beyond their duties. Do you tip the UPS/FedEx guy every time they drop a package ?

Driver should be making minimum wage at least, so unless they are helping you out in some way...no tip. Refreshments are always appreciated though I am sure. You gave your gratuity in the form of a commission to the sales person...it’s up to them to take care of support staff in my opinion....just like the person waiting on you splitting tips with the person cleaning tables and the kitchen staff when you eat out.
