Hello everyone. Stephen here from South Carolina. Growing zone 8-9 ( so no snow fun).
I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions as I try new farm things. Until now, I have just been farming chickens for eggs. A restaurant

To the TBN forum Stephen. We are glad that you joined and you came to the right place to any question answered.

Congrats on your new tractor and farming.

You didn't say how much land you will be farming and what you plan on growing?

You say no snow fun in SC, but when I was stationed in Sumter, SC we got 21" of snow one night in January 1976. But then you are on an island and I was in the middle of the state, so I guess that is the difference.

Welcome!

Come on over to the Yanmar forum and make yourself at home!

I and many others have YM240's, a few with FWD, and also YM2000's. Same thing except marketed in Japan and then imported here used, in large numbers.

We love photos, post some of your tractor.

I see you asked about tillers in another thread. There was a tiller RS1400 marketed in Japan together with YM2000, its cut is 55 inches wide. (1400mm). You have 24 engine hp, 20 PTO hp, so a tiller that specifies this will be a good match. I bought a used RS1400 Yanmar tiller. Here's an old photo where i tried it for the first time, first at 540 rpm then at 1,000. The higher speed turns the soil to fine flour, lower speed is better. (And don't turn a US tiller that fast, its dangerous).

I now use that tiller on the 18/15 hp YM186D (see my sig photo below). It's really too big for that tractor, it stalls the tractor at times, but the little tractor is more convenient getting under my orchard trees to till next to the trunks.

I will be farming about 4 acres. They want sunchoke, potatoes, peppers, beets, carrots and more.
Snowed here twice since I've lived here ( stuck for an hour) but at the same time we have over 40 citrus trees. Got a low of 25 coming in a week.

Nice looking tractor. How many hours on it? That 4 wheel drive will come in handy some times.

Has it ever had a FEL before?

It has 950 hours and I think it had a snow blower on the front , the front Hydraulics are unhooked going to need some help with that one day for sure

:welcome: Welcome to the forum!

That sounds like a pretty good deal with the restaurant :)

950 hours just means it is broken-in good as long as it was maintained properly.
