For a while, after leaded was being phased out, car makers started putting in hardened valves and valve seats.
About then, (70's) the high compression v8's were being phased out, in favor of smaller engined cars, with lower compression.
Then came MTBE, which is yet another horror story
Your Ford 3000 has lower compression than the cars of that period, and will run just fine on modern regular gas.
Note, Modern regular gas will turn to muck, and clog the heck out of your fuel system, unless you use alcohol free gas.
