New tractor problem...

I have a new 5045E mfwd. 20 hours on it. I was driving back from a brushhogging job , it was about 90 degrees outside. About a half a mile from the jobsite, in C3 at 2500 rpms, the rpm's start falling off to about 1500 over a period of about 30 seconds. Hand or foot throttle does no good to adjust up. I push in the clutch and the rpms jump back up to 2500!. The brakes feel "funny". I put it in Nutural and rolled to a stop, felt like the brakes were being applied a little. I came to a stop on a slight incline, and in N I had alot of rolling resistance...matter of fact, it wouldn't roll backwards in N on that slight incline. I let it sit for a couple of min. and then started off again...it did this about 5 more times before I got home, which was about 6 miles away. Any Ideas?

Sounds like your front axle is binding up. How much 4x4 have you been doing?

I didn't think I had done much at all on my 110tlb but still had to completely rebuild the mfwd axle to the tune of $2500. Nowadays it only gets engaged to get me unstuck.

I only have engaged a couple of times. Once pulling someone out of the creek, and yesterday to get over a hill on the jobsite, as soon as I got over it, I disengaged the MFWD.

Any kind of park brake that could have been set or brakes not fully releasing? Check for a limb or such in linkage especially following bush hogging.

That would be the first place I would start.

Yeah....I already checked that. I did find a twig in the drawbar, but thats about it. Funny thing is, the brake pedal DID feel wierd, like it was leaking down or something. But , after stopping and waiting a couple of min. it would hold 2500 rpm again.

I checked everything over again....the brake pedal goes to a master cyl that is right up behind the console. From there, 2 steel lines run down the the rear axle. Pretty simple setup, nothing to get bound up. These are wet brakes I assume?

Did you check the front axle yet as mentioned above?

I would rotate the front wheel on one side while keeping the other one fixed to see how smoothly the axle, differential and drive shaft turns.

nope...My dealer is picking it up today to check it out. I will let you know what they find.

These units have a brake pedal free play adjustment and if one side is too tight it will cause the brake drag and spongy felling you experienced.

Your dealer should have no problem correcting the issue.
