My tractor has 17 hrs on it now. Is there a smell that you get off a new tractor
from paint curing or maybe a slight anti freeze smell? I don't see any kinds of leaks or anything. I don't smell it all the time.

Thanks!

There is a scent of sorts - kind of a mix of hydraulic fluid, burning paint, and new rubber. I'm looking for that scent in a little xmas tree to hang in my truck.

I think it's mostly rubber. I noticed that when my garage was closed up tight for a few days with the B7800 in it. I noticed it a few years ago when I got my new riding lawnmower too. Also more noticable as weather warms up and it gets more humid.

My L3400HST smelled kind of funny/sweet for the first 5 or 6 hours on and off. I still smell it on occasion (it has 30+ hours now).

I was kind of wondering the same thing, since my L3000DT didn't have any smell like that that I can remember.

Don't know what you're smelling, but here's a possibility. Our L3830HST has 400 hrs. on it, so it doesn't qualify as new, but I notice that when I'm bucketing snow and going back and forth, sometimes I smell hydraulic fluid. I think that the smell is coming from the vent for the hydraulics at the rear axle area.

You are smelling the "newness", that's all. I have about 12 hours on mine, it still makes my garage smell like new vehicle! I hope it smells for many, many more hours...

You know there was a poll once, I don't remember where I read it, but they asked men their number one fragrance...the result:

'NEW CAR SMELL'!

I kid you not.

All that aside, it's nothing to be concerned about, you'll miss that smell when it's gone. It's just the newness. Enjoy it while it lasts!

New car smell is adhesives evaporating and the plastics used in car contruction. On the tractor I would think the heating of the painted items and gues too.

Mine just smells like diesel now.

ya my bx23 smells the same way, the vent is right below and behind the seat, mine was over full from the factory and vented so much it dripped on the barn floor. still smell it sometimes after 300 hrs and 2 services when the hydraulics get heated up during extended use. (smelled all day today)

70 degrees today and 4 day on one job got to pay for my new zd326
