Tractor
656 Farmall
Well.....after atleast a year of reading this forum and looking at different tractors, I was able to purchase my first tractor! I got a '78 656 Farmall. It has a Great Bend front loader on it, a set of pallet forks that will go on in place of the bucket, and a rear box scraper. I used it yesterday to push the snow out of my driveway. I absolutely love it!!!! I am a Firefighter, so right now I am on shift for 48 hours and cannot wait to get home to play with it some more. I wanted to thank everybody that posts on here for all of the information that you share. Thanks so much, and I hope to share some pictures with you all soon.

Congradulations man!! I was glad I could go with you and check it over and then go with you to pick it up. It was soo much fun!! That thing is a monster and you are going to find so many uses for it. I have already seen it obviously but the rest of them need to see some pictures of that beast!

Well Anthony got stuck using his tractor, I think every new tractor owner has to do that once or twice if he is having fun! Then he called me to help and I got stuck as well, you know you have to give it your all helping out a friend. LOL.

Then a guy with a 580 Case backhoe was nice enough to pull us both out.

All and all nobody was hurt and his tractor only suffered a broken lift arm. Sure was fun though! Now he has allot more seat time in the spring to fill those ruts that we created.

We still have a 1066 similar vintage. Lots of hours and a little rough looking but starts and runs great. Only problems were the steering / front end which seemed to be a weak spot. Mind you having to put a rack of suitcase weights on the front likely didn't help but needed them for the size of plow we put behind her. Grease well and keep all the bolts snug to avoid play / wobble especially with the FEL use.
