Tractor
Case 222, BX2200
Hello Everyone,
I have been looking though this site for at least a year because that is how long I have been looking for a replacement tractor for my mother.
I bought her a used Case 222 a little over 7 years ago. It had a 44" mid deck for grass and I riged a utility shovel to it to push snow. This was and still is one tough little tractor.
The hydrostatic drive is difficult to use and does not provide back resistance when going down a hill. This is the reason why my sister hit the big tree at the bottom of the hill. The tree seems to hurt more than the tractor. The tractor had sustained a 2" dent in the middle of the hood but started right up (no damage to engine) and drove it back into the garage.

To make a long story short, the Case is having problems. It is becoming hard to start once in a while. When it works it really works but when it don't, I can not figure out how to get it to start. This is why we when looking for a new tractor.

We took our time and I read a lot from this board before making a decision. Must say Thanks to everyone here for all the useful information and insight that I would have not gotten from a dealer.

In conclusion, after looking at New Holland, Kioti (no HST) and Kubota. Today we purchased an "Orange" Kubota BX2200 with FEL and 60" MM deck for $13500 - del. Tuesday afternoon. The Kubota seems to have the simplest of design and my sister & mother like the feel and drive of the Kubota the best. Also, we could not start the Case for a week and the grass is over grown. Hopefully, I will spend more time using the equipment than fixing it.

Thanks Everyone,
Dave

Wish you lots of enjoyment with the new 'bota. I own green, but I know you'll love the Kubota.

I know you got that new tractor and all, but what happens when the Case won't start? Does it crank, and not fire, or not crank at all. I fought for most of this year trying to get my 224 started. It turned out being a bad connection on the ampmeter. Go figure./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif Now it runs bee u t full. Sometimes it the simple stuff. Oh, and ya the old Casees without the ****** were a PITA going down hills. Luckly all of mine are latter models, and have the valves that gives you engine braking.
