New trailer tire $ shock

   / New trailer tire $ shock #21
Good point Don, I think many trailer tire failures stem from low air inflation. Use the max recommended pressure and even slightly more and check pressure often. This is with all brands of tires. My friend has a travel trailer and had lots of tire failures, I asked what kind of air pressure did he use, he said 35lbs. The tires were rated to use 50lbs for the load the trailer had. After he did that no more failures.

Got the Tow Master tires today and they are made in China also. PSI cold is 65 Pounds! The load range is "D" - 2450 lbs. capacity each. I just looked at my Dad's spare, it is new but a vehicle tire 35 psi capacity 950 lbs. If I would have put vehicle tires on the trailer it would have lowered the capacity to about 3,000 pounds - half of what I need. I feel like I'm an expert on China trailer tires. Thanks for the help guys!

I think you will be very happy with the Tow Masters. I have put 3 or 4 sets on my trailers. 2 trailers hauled boats that were very heavy. One is 15,600# on a tri-axle trailer and the other is about 10,000#.

Just remember the ST tires are rated at 60 MPH . When you exceed that speed they might come apart. A lot of people on the RV Net use LT's because they run faster than 60 MPH, but I neaver pull anything faster than 60 you are taking a chance when you do. If other people on road don't like it thats tough, they can always use center lane and pass.
