A couple of weekends ago we had my daughters, a couple of my nephews, and my parents at our cabin. My great grandfathers hay rake had been behind the barn grown up in brush my whole life. With the help of the young folks we moved it to a spot beside the drive. Now maybe a few more generations can enjoy it.

Setting on the old dump rake while the summer sun beat down wasn't fun.

While sitting in a cabbed tractor moving that rake, I couldn’t help thinking how hard my great grandfather must have worked and how easy we have it today.

I remember sitting next to the operator on one of those old hay rakes being pulled by a frisky horse.
I had to hang on for dear life as we'd bounce along and he'd yank the lever ever so many yards when the tines were at capacity.

Also the youngsters would be assigned to ride the hay wagon to trample/compact the hay load.
Again back at the barn we were all assigned to trample/compact the hay up in the loft all while dodging the horse pulled lift forks and the guy tossing hay with hand a held hay fork.

But we all survived.
Bet OSHO could have had a 'hey day' writing tickets back then.

Another use for those... At my sister's camp she has 2 pair of the teeth welded together to make a firewood stand.

That would be cool. I am in the process of building a cabin on the old garden lot of my great grandparents farm and I have been reusing a lot of old stuff.

The cabin is situated in the old garden lot. I used the light that was mounted on a post leading into the garden for a light over the kitchen table.

I made door pulls out of parts from a mule collar. My cabin kitchen table is my great grandmothers kitchen table made out planks. Not fancy at all but it’s good cabin look.

I have a couple of buckles from the horse tack which has been hanging on a post in the barn since before I was born. Someday I'm going to get back into hunting and trapping, and will make a belt for it out of a deer hide or beaver pelt.
