I am adding a valve for bucket grapple. I have existing hoses running to rear from Woods Backhoe, as per attached diagram, I put on last year. To keep it simple can I Tee into the lines used for the backhoe as per red in attached diagram? Thanks.

No, you can not tee into an open center circuit where the fluid is routed through all the valves.. If you tee in, the original path is still open to tank. However, if you place a shut off valve in a certain part of a circuit, then the fluid is routed through your grapple valve, and it will work.

Why not use a diverter valve, solenoid control, a switch on the handle switches between the curl and the grapple.

Why not disconnect the BH, and plug your grapple valve into the QD's where the BH plugs in, and everything will be correct.

JJ thanks for reply, I will go with using existing BH connection as you suggested. This was my first thought but I was just truing to save some extra hose routing. Thanks again.

If you are going to use the BH plugs, then I believe I would run 1/4 hose to the grapple so it won't be to fast, and there are other things to slow it sown, such as needle valves, or a restrictor, which is a disc with a small hole in it to reduce flow.

If you should want to use a selector valve, here is a good one to use.

https://www.surpluscenter.com/item.asp?item=9-7852&catname=hydraulic

While looking at that page, select Instructions, and you will see how the curl cyl and the grapple cyl might be plumbed. A couple of 1/4 in hose, and this valve, and a switch, and you are ready to grapple.

The way it works is this, in the de-energized state, circuit 1, the curl cyl, is selected and the curl works normally. When you turn the switch on, circuit 2 is energized and the grapple circuit is functional by using the curl lever. You can make this switch steady on, or momentary, your choice.

That diverter valve will NOT work with your PB circuit.

Explain why, it is not using the PB circuit, it is fed by the curl circuit.
