New welding cart for old tombstone

Thought I would share. Picked up a harbor freight dolly and practiced metal bending with the new torch as well as welding with the new MIG. Lets just say I am a better producer than welder, but it is fun none the less.

I think I will try to figure out a little box just above the welder, maybe practice on thin stuff... How do you make a lip on thin metal so you don't get cut?

By bending it as tight as you can with a metal brake and then bending it flat.

Well, that ain't gonna happen.....

Get a small piece of tubing (rubber, plastic, etc.) and cut a lengthways slit on one side. Slip it over the edge and glue it on with weatherstrip cement.

I've also used those thin stiff U-shaped plastic strips (binding bars) used to "bind" papers together for a report, etc.

You can get some round stock and bend it to match the edge, then tack it on.

Get some bending tongs at the local hardware store and bend a 1/4 in flap over. the tongs are a poor mans break, takes longer but it works.

We used to take the oil pump shaft out of an chevy engine. The shaft has a slot where it engages the distributor shaft. Slip this slot over the metal to be bent and just keep going around the edge until your done. Take a hamer and dolley and hammer flat. Made many a wheel well opening this way.
