Can any of the other X Series owners on the forum tell me how they've devised a way to mow in reverse? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Just pull up on the rio? switch before backing up.
I bet you want some one to tell you how to over ride the switch, right?

There is a switch on the inside of the frame. When pressing on the reverse pedal, it hits the switch and shuts off the relay.

If I recall correctly, the switch is held on by 1 bolt. Loosen the bolt. Rotate the switch. The reverse pedal won't hit the switch anymore but the switch is not bypassed or jumpered in any way.

Be aware that the same switch also controls the back-up lights, so they will no longer work automatically. Of course you can always turn them on manually (work lights).

Thanks for the assistance. I discovered that applying the brake pedal also turns off the mower. What is the reason for that "safety" feature? It seems we citizens are incapable of doing anything without endangering ourselves. It's quite irritating, these attempts to protect ourselves from ourselves.

If you have not bypassed the switch just what have you done!!!

The "safety" feature" is so you don't back up over your grand kid if your stupid enough to allow them out playing in the yard while your mowing and sling rocks and such from under your mowing deck! My mower has a switch down under the seat that I activevate ever time I get on it to mow, I even put my dogs in the house when I mow and cease to mow when any one drives up the drive.

It's probably best you don't know what I did with the "butt switch"

I miss the old 112. The only switch was the neutral start switch.

heck, you could start that thing with the PTO engaged!

think about it this way. it could be a buggy microsoft app that just came out. and if ya did a left turn, the right blade would go shooting out from under neath the deck.

at least the safety features are there, and hopefully teaches folks to do correct thing.

I mowed my lawn with the X749 this past Sunday and had to screw with the RIO switch too, I will likely jumper the switch. One thing I noticed is the deck is so quiet that I can miss it cutting off. My older L130 you knew if the deck was running or not.

I agree with keeping children, pets and some adults away from me while mowing. No point in taking unnecessary chances.
