Hey guys!

I just retired my 35 year old Simplicity Sovereign 7016H and purchased a new X758. While I love the new JD, I am struggling with all of the safety interlocks. My big problem right now is that I cannot figure out how to run a generator off the rear 540 RPM PTO. The dealer's instructions are not getting me anywhere. Can you help me out?

Thanks
Mark

The way my 748 works, is you have to be off the seat with the parking brake set, then you can activate the rear PTO.

That's what the dealer told me, but it doesn't seem to work. I thought maybe I was missing something...

Does the seat have to be tilted up?

Do you have the rear selector with yellow knob in the 540 pto position?

Yes, the PTO selector is rear 540 PTO position.

Something isn't hooked up properly. All of the electrical connections appear to be making contact. Nothing obvious that incorrect.

I called the dealer. They cannot get to it until Friday or Monday.

I had an interesting issue with mine. While I had the seat switch unplugged, a short piece of 20ga wire somehow fell through the holes in the tabs shorting them together. I did not realize this and when I went to plug it in it apparently remained in place. Strange coincidence, but now the PTO stays engaged. Even more strange is how the exact same thing happened with the RIO yellow push button switch. ;)

Wow, that sure explains my mysterious RIO, it apparently has a similar, almost looks like a 1 inch jumper wire with a spade connector on each end. Since I don't have rear PTO I can't acknowledge the unusual connection on it. But if I get a Rear PTO I will let you know.
Remember though until this mystery comes to light always look to the rear before checking to see if the connection is still active.
One fine machine though discounting the scenario some are finding.

Strange! My old JD 345 has the same problem and it has been that way for years.;) Even stranger, the short wires with spade lugs on them disappear when the tractor goes to the dealer for repair.

Must be a QC problem because the exact same thing happened to mine too.
