Does anyone know where the new SA and YT models are manufactured ? I was under the impression that the main components such as the engines, transmissions, driveline etc were built in Japan and then assembled in Georgia. Is this correct or are the main components manufactured and assembled in Georgia?

Thanks!

Major manufacturing of Yanmar SA, YT2 and YT3 Series tractors sold in North America is accomplished in Yanmar factories in Japan. Assembly of the North America versions of these tractors is done on an assembly line at Yanmar America in Adairsville, Georgia, USA. There is a team of Yanmar America engineering and product development personnel that work on developing and testing the North America versions of the tractors and who are a primary global Yanmar source for certain kinds of product engineering and development that are especially important in the North America market -- e.g., the front loaders for the SA, YT2, & YT3 tractors are engineered, developed, tested, and manufactured in North America.

Major components manufactured in Japan with final assembly in GA. I believe I read somewhere that Yanmar is looking to source things like wheels and tires from North America and open to other things also depending on the value proposition. Their implements are mostly made by Woods in the U.S. I live very near one of the Mahindra assembly centers in Bloomsburg PA. The family that owns the business sold a very old and successful Kubota dealership and tractor parts business to go full bore into being a regional assembly center for Mahindra. They bought the original Wal Mart in town and converted it to an assembly facility. it's fun to see crates of partially built tractors come in the back and then the front parking lot full of shinny new Mahindras awaiting shipment to dealers. Must be over 200 tractors of all sizes and configurations in the parking lot at any given time. I believe there is some import duty advantage to final assembly in the U.S. and I know that tractors are much easier to pack and ship if they don't have wheels, ROPS, cabs, front end loaders etc. Also some of those items might be sourced in the U.S. so the base raw tractor is manufactured in Japan with the final configuration being completed in the U.S.

Thank you for the quick reply! It is nice to know that someone from Yanmar is on the forums!

From doing research before purchasing my new YT235, that was my basic understanding of the breakdown between the manufacturing and assembly processes. However, I had someone that should know, tell me the company was in Japan but they were made in Atlanta, Georgia so I just wanted to verify.

Again, thanks for the reply and information!

I actually have one of the Yanmar rotary cutters. I decided to purchase the Yanmar cutter largely because it was made by Woods. I have an 1988 Yamaha Terrapro 4 wheeler with a PTO driven cutter that was made by Woods. It is 30 years old this year and still cutting.

I was rather disappointed when my new Yanmar cutter was delivered. Long story, but it was delivered with the 3 point structure set up wrong and the top link wouldn't reach. I had to go buy correct bolts and washers for part of it, and redo where the 3 point attached to the cutter. Where the top link was to attach to the cutter was wrong, none of the fittings on the entire cutter had been greased, the slip clutch was not tested and they had not put any oil in the gear box... To top it off, they didn't bring an owners manual with it. I ask the delaer to send me a hard copy and they emailed me a PDF copy and I have not received the hard copy yet nor have they ever followed up with me. Pretty frustrating to pay a lot of money for a brand new premium product and have to start fixing it before you can use it... Especially, when the owners manual states that all those items should be done prior to being delivered to the customer.

Sorry to hear your new mower wasn’t setup correctly before delivery.

How do you like the new YT235 so far?

I also bought the Yanmar rotary mower because it was slightly cheaper than the exact same Woods, my dealer carries both. Came on a rollback attached to my new 424 perfectly prepped and set up. I did change the top link setup to work with my Titan Quick Attach. I was originally a city boy so what I've come to learn about non automobile equipment is that the dealer is vital, learned it the hard way with my fishing boat purchase 12 years ago.

I love the YT235. I only have about 10 hours on it so far. The majority of those were just sitting still while I got the cutter setup.....lol. I have found a few things I might would like to be a different. However, that's going to happen with anything....lol. Fit and finish seem to be first class. I like that Yanmar designs and builds the tractor and loader. It's one of the main things that finally won me over after initially looking at a few of the tractor brands produced in South Korea.

I am picking up a 60" Landpride finish mower from my uncle tomorrow. He hasn't used it in a few years and I won't have to buy one right now. I'm looking foward to having both a finish mower for the yard and a cutter for the field. I have been using the cutter for the field and the yard. The cutter does a good job, but I imagine the finish mower with sharp blades will do much better job in the yard.

I was looking for a Yanmar YBS65 box blade, but can't find one in stock anywhere. Same goes for the Yanmar TQH1 quick hitch... I may end up with a different box blade if I can't come up with a YBS65 soon. However, I would really like everything I buy to be Yanmar.

They delivered my cutter with a 424 also. However, they didn't have the top link attached and had trouble getting it off the trailer... I kept saying, "why don't we attach the top link" as that would have fixed the issue. After they dropped it and ran, I backed up to it to attach it to my tractor and that's when I figured out why they didn't want to attach the top link.... It wouldn't reach and they weren't interested in dealing with it to make it right....

Dealer is very important. I hope Yanmar opens a quality dealer near me soon, just incase.
