"New" Zturn tractor with a problem.

So I took delivery of my "new" JD Z465 zturn mower to add to my collection.:thumbsup:
I bought it from a dealer in Arkansas and had it shipped to Fargo where I picked it up and brought it home. I couldn't figure out why they would have removed one control arm for shipping as it was located under the seat. I soon realised a part was broken in transit. No big deal its a $20 part easy fix. I opened and damage in transit claim with the trucking company, if they pay great, if they don't oh well its twenty bucks.... no biggie.

So at home I tried to start it, then I realise the thing has 160 hrs on it. I bought it with only 132 hrs. Should I say something or just leave it alone? You can tell its been used AFTER the website pictures were taken as there are alot more scratches on the side of the deck. What should/could I do?

The dealer is not a JD dealer.

Yes, contact the seller. Good luck. Next time give Craigslist a little more time. At most you might have to drive 200 miles to the Twin Cities.

Often the seller has to make the damage claim. Do it ASAP.

It could be that someone left the key on and ran 30 hours on it while in transit. I wouldnt worry too much about the extra 30 hours aslong as the rest is working as I expected. Get your damage claim in early with some good photos for backup. Hopefully you got the trucker to sign off that something was broken, that makes it go much better.

Typically they do.
I would take pics of the extra damage/condition, and hourmeter, and compare them to the pics in the ad as I'm gathering you're saying there's a difference in the 2. Ask for compensation for the degraded condition and extra hours.
Do it ASAP.

Clock will run when the engines off, but 30 hours is a long time to not realize it. And that will usually result in a dead battery.

I would tell them and see what they say, and tell them about the damage in shipping. May be able to get something.
