newb help on b7800 v l2800

Very strange MDM,

I'm almost certain the one I saw had a numbered 3pt hitch control with stops, and this:

indicates it does have position control. You're not thinking about draft control, are you?

You've received some good advice already. In the end the final decision will be yours alone. That decision will be made on the tractor uses and which one fits those uses the best for you. In your situation I'm not sure which I would choose. If you plan to mow, the middle mounted mower on a lighter tractor is a huge plus. tree removal? neither will be very good at that, however if you wish to someday have a backhoe to dig some stumps, the 2800 will certainly be better. Snow removal? I don't know much about that here in Mississippi. Driveway maintenance, my vote would be the 2800, but the B series will do fine also.
The only recomendation one can make is, look at them again, drive them around the dealer lot as much as you need, ask the dealer all the questions you can think of. See if you can talk directly to owners of both machines. Most of all, take your time. Nice thing about this decision, either will work fine. All the best and keep us posted on the final outcome.
Oh and if it were me, I'd buy the 2800, kinda like I already did.

Thanks all for the tremendous advice and thoughts. Reading these forums and posting here has been the most useful part of the process to date.

Made the decision today, after reviews here and looking at a couple of other / competitive models to be sure; going with the L2800 HST R4 tires and the 6' RFM. Now I get to wait.....

Congratulations Hamilton. I guarantee you will enjoy that tractor for a long time. Now get ready for long hours on this forum, hanging out at the dealer, talking to others who have similiar equipment and most of all, reading about those implements you may want to add. Be careful though, usually you'll be the only one in the house who understands why you HAVE to spend that kind of money on a rear blade or post hole digger. Just keep an old sock hid somewhere to save those twenty dollar bills. Soon enough, can make another trip for that next implement that just might be needed someday.

You will be happy with it. I really just learned to love my 2800 alot more this week. I have been skidding loggs with it this week. Ten and twelve foot long oaks, 18" in diameter. You might think,"no big deal", but I am pulling them up hill out of a 50' deep ravein. It is so steep, I have to park my tractor at the top and use 70' of chain to reach them in the bottom. It works her a little bit but she will pull them up out. I am really impressed with the strength of tractor.
