For your consideration, I understand there is an excellent LS dealer in Trumansburg.

He keeps most of his inventory inside -- out of the weather.

Good to know. Thanks. LS is definitely on my radar after reading the various threads. I'm always looking for value and the Korean manufacturers seem to top that category for most people. Is that Brian Switzer you're referring to? I found him in a web search but his website doesn't seem to have any tractor info on it....just lawn equipment. I'll have to drive up there.

Welcome Neighbor, lots of good dealers in your area. You will have many good choices!

Don't be shy, everyone is here to help each other.

Thanks Otto.....any personal experience with any of them? In my searching so far it seems like a mix of small places (focused on lawn and garden) and some bigger regional chains. Haven't visited any yet though. Seems like most of the lines are represented but not much overlap except maybe Kuobota which has a few dealerships.

I bought my John Deere from Cazenovia Equipment, although not in your backyard, it is close. I was lucky to find an excellent used JD that has worked very well for me. They were very patient and let me test several used models in their yard. Delivery and service has been great. I've even called a few times to get information on the service codes and they were very helpful over the phone. I'm not a mechanic, but most of my issues have been easy fixes.

I did get HST which has worked really well for me. I thought I would be mowing 90% of the time and HST would not have been needed. Turns out I spend as much or more time using the FEL, so it was a good move on my part. I put a snow plow on it two years ago and the HST makes that job much easier too. Well worth the money for me!
