Hello!
We have a JD Gator 6X4 # W006X4D033326. It has a Yanmar diesel. It has a start issue that we are having trouble finding. It will crank over just fine, kick off for 2 seconds then immediately die. Having never touched these, we tried to troubleshoot and found the fuel shutoff solenoid wasn't staying in. So we ordered a new solenoid from the JD parts shop over in the next town and replaced it. started engine, ran for a few minutes and we shut it down thinking its fixed. next day, fire it up, runs for 2 seconds then dies, just like before. after googling for ideas, came across this site and a lot of info mentioning the thermistor. However, seems our problem is just the opposite. it will initially start (fire off), but immediately die, as though the holding portion of the solenoid is not working. we pulled it back off and can see the solenoid retract when first turning on ignition but doesn't seem to stay retracted after releasing the start switch. we are out of ideas since we have very little info in this unit. Any ideas? We already spend $180 on a new solenoid and cannot afford to keep chucking parts at it. Any help greatly appreciated. Also, if it helps, power for the initial start to the fuel cutoff solenoid comes from a purple wire that his located on the starter solenoid, then melds with a white wire that goes both to the Fuel cutoff solenoid, and to somewhere towards front of gator, I assume to be ignition switch.
