Newb with Questions, BX2230

I've had that exact same rig for 2 weeks now. BX2230, 60", FEL. Mine has just under 600 hours. I picked mine up (I'm almost embarrassed to say) off eBay for $7100. Mechanically good shape, but some dings (lights work, but lense caps are broken or missing, hood dented.

What I've discovered:
1) It needs rear end weight, I don't think 300 lbs would be too heavy, 400 would be better. I might go with a combination of fluid and 3pt.
2) It has gobs of power.
3) Mowing with the FEL is real pain, much easier w/o and it's easy to do.
4) Mower blades need to be really cranked on the spindle. Mine came loose after I took them off to sharpen them.
5) It sips fuel. Lots of hours in a tank.
6) I'm scared to take off the mower until I order Bro-Tec plates, at least the rear one.
7) Parking brake is poor design, needs to be more obvious.
8) I'll get by with the FEL this winter, but you never know when a blower might have to come home.

I gotta say though, it's fun. For an old farm kid in the burbs, there's nothing like going in the woods and digging a little dirt. :)

+1 Absolutely. We have fluid in the rear tires, attach a 400lb box blade to the 3pt and my no longer skinny posterior on the seat. That pretty well keeps the back end on the ground, but even so, you don't want to be joyriding around with a full bucket high off the ground. Keep it low when travelling and don't empty it high if there's any side slope.
