I have got some great feedback from this site. Now I'm going to approach this a little differently. If I was lucky enough to come up with about $7000. What tractor (new or used) would you recommend for my property (see Newbe needs help post). Remember I have equal portions of yard and pasture. The yard I will HAVE to mow. The pasture I will want to mow. Let it rip, let me know what you would buy!

I'd still recommend the Case/Ingersoll, but I'm extremely biased!!!!!!!!!

I would go after that JD425 that you mentioned in another post, real fast. As was mentioned, its value with the 60" deck is much higher than the $7100 posted (w/33 hours, and 1 year warranty). It is a lot of tractor for you, but one you will enjoy and one you will get your money out of if ever you will want to. I saw a 425 w/54" deck at an auction recently(2 days ago) with 950 hours on it, and it went for $5000. Usually one year old 400's drop in price about $1500 - $1600 with 100 hours on them (from my experience). Who knows, you may get that for less than the $7100 - if it is still available.
Resale value is something that JD is probably (yes, to some it is debatable) the best of any brand out there. But you can learn that for yourself by going to any used lot and checking out the prices, as well as look in the classifieds to see what the values are.

Kubota BX, Power Trac or other small compact. You can pick up something like a Ford 1220 (Kubota b7100, etc.), 4WD, 3 pt. lift, HST, w/60" belly mower for around (or a little less) than your price mark.

G42guy, I left you a reply on the other post recently, but I stand by my earlier advice, look for a used Kubota or something close to a compact tractor. Your needs and price range can make a used compact, or subcompact very possible. Look around on the net, and get prices. You should be able to find something close to you for your price range. I've got a needs very close you what yours are, and I'm very pleased with my TC21D. I could have gone to a sub compact, but I've got a couple other uses for mine besides my property. The best of luck in your search. Kent
