How tight should the sway turbuckles be on the 3pt. arms? The reason I ask is that I assumed that the rotation of the 3pt. lift arm shouldn't have any bearing on the tightness of that linkage, however, I had mine in the upper position the other day and I tightened them to reduce the sway on an implement. When I lowered the implement, I heard a loud pop and found the end of one turbuckle had broken. I looked at this for sometime and figured out that the lover pivot arms are 1/4" lower than the pivots of the turnbuckle linkage, so it will get a loose when raising and implement and tight when lowered. So by tighening the links in the up position I removed the necessary slack and when lowering the implement, something had to give.

Is this normal?

Yep. That's the way mine is.

Thanks for the story so we can learn. I saw the delivery guy tighten up mine while the RFM was on the ground and he put the slack in the upper fork, so I just assumed this was the way you did it. He did tell me to keep the upper slackened, but didn't mention anything else - I am sure mine would do the same as yours. Bota 7800.
