Newbie - freedom deck help!!!

Hi everyone ... now that I own a JD (LT155 w 42 Freedom Deck) and have a problem, thanks for places like this site! Hopefully I will be able to contribute as much or more than I gain from being here! Here goes ... I dropped my cutting deck for the first time and altho I thought I was pretty observant on how it is attached, when I went to reconnect it I'm stumped. Is there any detail within the manual or tech manual (which I bought online) that CLEARLY identifies how the DRIVE BELT tensioner re-connects? The illustration in my manual does NOT resemble what I'm dealing with :confused2:

I had that issue let me go look.
referenced from a top view, drivers left and right.
From the left side of the engine pulley straight back, around the fixed idle pulley counter-clockwise, around the driven pulley counter-clockwise, around the tensioner pulley clockwise, straight forward to the right side of the engine pulley.

It will seem odd because, with the deck lowered and no belt tension, the belt seems to hit a deck lift bolt between the fixed idler and the driven pulley, but with tension and the deck raised slightly it will have a bit of clearance.

oops I read it as a belt routing issue.

yes, I think my routing is fine. I'm having trouble hooking up my drive belt tensioner ... after hooking up the right and left brackets, I'm left with a 1" wide short L bracket (black), a stud, and a cotter pin. I'll try and take a pic of it and then post again. Thanks for the fast reply tho!

Awesome!!! Thanks so much ... that's exactly what I needed to get me back on track! Next time I'm gonna video anything I do before and after! By the way, I did post a video ... you should be able to find it and see (confirm) everything. Many thanks once again :thumbsup:

I always have my camea ready when I disassemble something, and if there is a choice of holes where a part goes, I mark it with a sharpie and take a picture.

Of course I've never needed to review those pictures.:shocked:

You are so right ... thought I could just zip thru it after installing a new timing belt and drive belt .. then got interrupted and had to put it aside for another day. That was the killer for my increasingly short-term brain :confused2: From now on my Flip camera (and a few multi-colored sharpies) will always be a part of my 'arsenal' ... thanks for the tip!
